Choosing the puppy that’s right for you requires careful consideration. We at Adorable Down East Labradoodles want to make sure you and your labradoodle are the right match for each other. All ADEL puppies undergo temperament testing at seven weeks old to help us determine their individual personalities and quirks.

Describe your personality. Are you laid-back? Active? Playful? A homebody? An adventurer?
Labradoodles are affectionate, sociable, friendly, and loving dogs. They’ll be devoted to you and your family, and will want to spend as much time as possible with their people. That said, they’re smart and perfectly capable of independence. They’re easily trained and eager to please. They’re also eager to play – very eager to play. Most labradoodles are wicked retrievers, doggie paddlers, and tug-o-war pros. In other words, they like to fetch, swim, and play.
What is your lifestyle like? Do you live in the city or the country? Do you work from home or at an office?
Mini and medium labradoodles are suited for most living conditions. With adequate exercise, they will do equally as well in an apartment as they would in a farmhouse.
Are you willing to groom your dog?
One of the reasons labradoodles are so popular is because of their hypoallergenic, virtually non-shedding coats. Labradoodles are lucky in that their coats most often imitate their poodle ancestors — they shed very little. As a result, they are great for people who suffer from allergies (or for people who suffer from an aversion to vacuums!)
