Gerry of Adorable Down East Labradoodles (ADEL) has been breeding mini and medium labradoodles since 2005. After falling in love with the breed because of his first doodle—a chocolate café labradoodle by the name of Tully—Gerry was inspired to help bring more mini labradoodle love into the world. Although he used to be located in Windham, Maine, he now lives in Sun City, Arizona and brings together families and labradoodle puppies in Greater Phoenix, Southern California, and beyond.
Above all else, ADEL’s goal is to produce the healthiest puppies possible. All of their sires (fathers) and dams (mothers) undergo health screenings for common inheritable diseases of the breed. In addition, their sires are introduced from non-ADEL lines to ensure fresh genes are brought in for their puppies.
Beyond genetics, ADEL dogs and puppies receive high quality care within Gerry’s home. They eat human-grade food with no fillers, socialize with humans and other dogs daily, and get their bellies scratched almost constantly! Most of the sires and dams live with carefully chosen guardian families, a practice that guarantees ADEL puppies’ parents are not only socialized, but loved as individual family members.
ADEL’s labradoodle puppies are raised entirely in-home (in fact, Gerry sleeps in the same room as them until they are at least four weeks old!). And as previously mentioned, once they reach a certain age, ADEL puppies are socialized with adults, children, and other dogs on a daily basis. At seven weeks old they undergo the Volhard Puppy Aptitude test. ADEL goes through painstaking effort to match their puppies with the right families. And, according to their customers, it pays off.
